Waffles the Cockapoo / Terrier Mix at Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge

Waffles has officially been hired as a staff member at the shelter while he waits for a home. Today he sat his fuzzy butt on the keyboard and printed 2 copies of his own med sheet all by himself!

Next he will be promoted to assistant (to the) front desk manager and will be reviewing his own applications for adoption.

His requirements: must bring him popcorn, ice cream, chicken, cheese, dental chews, or of course, waffles to convince him to want to go home with you. Our Waffies has a healthy suspicion of new people and needs a lower traffic adult home, but is easily bribed into making new friends with the right treats.

January 13, 2024 Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge Post for Waffles:

Meet Waffles! This poor guy came to us terrified, severely matted and with eyes painfully crusted. After a vet visit and a grooming he's a new man! He has chronic dry eye that had gone untreated for so long it caused some permanent scarring and he does have reduced vision so sometimes gets nervous with new people and fast movements but bonds quickly and then he's a silly velcro dog. He loves sitting on your desk chair with you while you are working and would be the perfect home office companion.

We think he's about 5 years old and is 17lbs full grown, some sort of cockapoo/terrier mix is our best guess. He's a good boy for his prescription eye drops which he will need for life and is looking for a home that will keep up with his medical and grooming needs.

Waffles does get along with some female dogs at the shelter and even hangs out with them during the day. He can be protective over his things sometimes and can be a bit bossy so he would need a “tough” female dog who can stand her ground if she has to 😂
Otherwise Waffles may be best as an only dog.
